HSBC Bank Malta has unveiled plans for its new flagship branch in Qormi.
Set to open in 2020, the branch in Mill Street is designed to bring together the bank’s personal and business services.
The flagship branch will be among HSBC Group’s first new generation branches being opened up globally, as it attempts to redefine the way in which the bank engages with customers. As HSBC has previously stated, the focus will be placed on digital services, tailored personal assistance and advice from branch employees.

The branch will be distributed across three floors, with a customer reception area to be placed on the ground floor. Customers will be able to make use of HSBC’s digital services via connected devices, ATMs and deposit machines, or seek advice from one of the team on their personal banking needs.
The second floor is set to feature private meeting rooms where clients may meet with specialist advisers. The third floor will offer HSBC's Premier customers a VIP area with specific facilities and services.
The Malta Independent reports HSBC CEO Andrew Beane as having said: "In October we announced the modernisation of our branch network to a model with fewer but better branches offering more services and flexibility.

“At the same we launched upgraded digital solutions on internet and mobile where we continue to see rapid growth in usage. I am now delighted to unveil the plans for our newest and largest branch in Malta which we will open later this year. HSBC's flagship branch represents our vision for the future of branch banking, and I look forward to inviting our customers to experience it soon."
Last October, the bank announced it was closing eight branches in Malta. The branches in Birzebbuga, Cospicua, Fgura, Hamrun, Marsascala, St Julian’s and St Paul’s Bay will all be closed.
The Balzan branch will also close, and be combined into the new Qormi flagship branch.
In setting up its new flagship branch, HSBC is also investing in sustainable materials and technology to minimise the carbon footprint generated by the building.
The new Qormi branch, in line with the bank's Green building policy, will be fitted with energy saving initiatives including presence controlled LED lighting, solar film to reduce heat gain, photovoltaic panels for the generation of electricity and will also be utilising two dedicated solar powered charging points for customer cars outside the branch.
