The HSBC Malta Foundation has once again marked International Men’s Day with a community initiative aimed at supporting vulnerable men across Malta and Gozo.
This year, the Foundation collaborated with eight local schools and HSBC Malta employees to collect essential care items, including unused toiletries and hygiene products. These were then distributed to a number of NGOs that work directly with men in need.
Participating schools included St Nicholas College, Dun Manuel Attard Wardija School, Kirkop Middle School, St Gorg Preca College Hamrun, St Francis School Victoria Gozo, St Albert the Great College, St Monica School B’Kara, Kullegg San Nikola, Skola Primarja Anton Agius Rabat, and Sir Adrian Dingli Middle and Secondary School in Pembroke.
The collection drive concluded with a ceremony at HSBC Malta’s Head Office in Valletta, where representatives from the involved NGOs gathered to mark the occasion. The event highlighted the importance of recognising and addressing the specific challenges many men face within the community, while underscoring the Foundation’s commitment to delivering meaningful social impact.

Glenn Bugeja, Head of Corporate Sustainability for HSBC Bank Malta plc, emphasised the significance of the initiative.
“Supporting our communities, especially vulnerable groups, is a core part of HSBC Malta Foundation’s mission and we are doing our utmost to repeat this initiative more than once during the year. We hold this type of event for Woman’s Day, Christmas Day, Mother’s Day and Father’ Day and before the beginning of the scholastic year. By engaging with local schools and NGOs, we aim to foster a sense of shared responsibility and care for those who need it most. International Men’s Day is a time to reflect on the challenges faced by men, and we’re proud to play a part in helping address these issues.”
The initiative forms part of HSBC Malta Foundation’s broader commitment to community support, showcasing how corporate responsibility goes beyond business priorities to include efforts that promote social well-being and empowerment. Through such projects, the Foundation continues to position itself as a leader in corporate social responsibility, encouraging others in the private sector to contribute toward positive societal change.

Malcolm Muscat, speaking on behalf of ALS, expressed deep gratitude for the Foundation’s ongoing support. “We wish to express our appreciation and gratitude to you for continuously helping ALS Malta’s cause. Your support will increase our capacity to give hope and assistance to service users who benefit from the services delivered by ALS Malta. Your continuous support, together with that of organisations, individuals, and companies, will determine the success of our programmes and services, which are provided to individuals and families whom we encounter on a daily basis.
"ALS Malta is an NGO and voluntary organization that relies on fundraising, charity, and donations in order to continue giving its service to persons and families, including children from different walks of life. Your donation motivates and encourages us to strive for a more just society. Your support is invaluable and helps us further develop the services required by our communities.”
