MAPFRE Middlesea has announced the appointment of Franco Borg as Chief Officer Internal Audit, following a “robust selection process.”

The appointment comes after the resignation of his predecessor, Sharon Cilia Tortell, who resigned earlier this month citing personal reasons.

Mr Borg is a Certified Public Accountant and Internal Auditor and has held senior positions in both highly regarded private organisations and regulatory authorities.

He has “extensive” working experience in Audit, Risk Management, Anti-Financial Crime and Compliance roles, MAPFRE Middlesea said.

Mr Borg is also an associate member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and a fellow of the Malta Institute of Accountants.

He will take up the new role effective from 25th October 2021, subject to regulatory approval.
