Epic has announced the launch of a full national mobile network modernisation projections, which will see an investment worth more than €40 million, and will pave the way for the roll-out of 5G in Malta.

The company says that in line with its brand promise “Great network. Great Value.”, it is investing in next generation telecommunications infrastructure in Malta with the support of its shareholders, Monaco Telecom.

“We are investing heavily in our promise of great network and great value for our customers in Malta,” commented Epic Malta CEO Tamas Banyai.

The company’s aim, he said, is to take its network to the next stage. The modernisation project is expected to bring wider coverage and faster speeds, and is also going to make 5G available to Epic customers, according to Mr Banyai.

Swedish multinational telecommunications company Ericsson has been selected as Epic’s radio access network provider partner for the network modernisation project.

This news of Epic’s network modernisation project follows the operator’s more recent announcement regarding the partnership with Phoenix Tower International (PTI), which Epic expects will help accelerate its investment plans in its network and digital services.

Epic says the investment reaffirms its commitment to continue playing a key role in the development and upgrade of Malta’s infrastructure that will reshape people’s digital experience and accelerate economic growth by providing new business opportunities for innovation and productivity.
