The Civil Protection Department has had a busy 24 hours, responding to several incidents related to Storm Harry across the country.

In an update shared on its social media pages this morning, the CPD said it responded to 42 tree obstruction incidents. Tree obstructions were reported across the island, including in Cospicua, San Ġwann, Naxxar and Żebbuġ.

The CPD also responded to 23 debris clearance operations, two billboard sign incidents, an incident involving a person who got locked in a lift, an electrical hazard, six HAZMAT spillages, six rubbish fires, and three vehicle fire incidents.

They also helped the police in a separate incident, and assisted in two medical extrications.

As Storm Harry continues to batter Malta, the CPD urged the public to remain indoors unless absolutely necessary and not to call 112 unless it is a genuine emergency so as to keep lines free for those in immediate danger.

People have also been advised not to work at heights, to stay away from the shoreline, breakwaters, and coastal paths, to secure loose outdoor items, and to drive with caution, especially in open or exposed areas.
