SBC Events, which organise international gaming events, confirmed that CasinoBeats Malta would take place as planned between 24th and 26th March at the Intercontinental Hotel, in Paceville.

CEO Rasmus Sojmark noted that, apart from the fact that Malta remained free from the infection, it appeared that the manner in which the health authorities reacted, “effectively” controlled the diffusion of the virus. Also, he noted, the authorities did not advise that public gatherings should be avoided.

“Given that CasinoBeats Malta will mainly attract industry executives based on the island, the event is to go ahead as planned after consultation with our speakers, sponsors and local key supporters.

“We will, of course, keep monitoring the situation closely and take on-board advice from official quarters, but at the moment it is business as usual in Malta,” Mr Sojmark was quoted saying.

The organisers said that should more virus containment restrictions be introduced making the event impossible to hold, an alternative date would be found later in the year.

According to promotional material, about 1,500 delegates, 100 speakers and 40 exhibitors are expected to be present for CasinoBeats Malta.
