Popular French brand PAUL Le Café will be opening its first outlet on the island, located at the Malta International Airport (MIA) food court.
Photos sent to this newsroom show a temporary setup showcasing the upcoming opening of the café in a prominent seating area, adjacent to the stairs that connect the two floors of the food court. Cafeterias at Malta’s only airport are highly sought after not only by passengers but also for locals who reside close by. In the arrival and departures area, MIA hosts Sunday in Scotland, Costa, and most recently Tat-Te.
The café is another brand to join other well-known names at MIA’s recently refurbished area. While the original Food Court on Level -1 was introduced inside the terminal in 2009, it was revamped in 2022, increasing its product offering.
In 2019, reports stated that PAUL would be opening by the promenade of the Grand Harbour Marina in Cospicua, yet no further announcements were made and the project never materialised.
The brand, which will debut its first outlet on the islands, was established in 1889, making it 135 years old. The business started as a small bakery in Croix, near Lille, in the North of France and is a fifth-generation family company owned by Groupe Holder, which owned luxury patisserie Ladurée from 2002 to 2021.
As of 2023, PAUL had 797 storefronts spread across 52 countries, now to also include Malta.
