Belgian quantum tech company iQrypto announced it is expanding its operations to Malta, with plans to establish a hub for applied research and development, advanced electronic systems, software development, and technology commercialisation.

iQrypto specialises in quantum security and semiconductor technology, including quantum random number generator (QRNG) chips that can be used to strengthen encryption and cybersecurity systems.

“Building on our existing semiconductor and advanced technology R&D activities in Belgium, our ambition is to develop Malta into a hub for applied R&D, advanced electronic systems, software development and technology commercialisation,” the company said.

“We want to bring research closer to real-world applications, connect engineering talent with industrial opportunities, and build new partnerships across Europe's semiconductor ecosystem.”

“This is an exciting step for iQrypto, and we're looking forward to building something meaningful in Malta!”

As part of its expansion, iQrypto has announced recruitment for two positions in Malta: a Director of Applied R&D and Technology Commercialisation, and an R&D Software Engineer.

The expansion is being supported by Malta Enterprise.

iQrypto CEO and Founder Alessandro Brunetti recalled how he dreamed of moving to Malta almost 20 years ago to pursue a career in semiconductors.

“Life took me in different directions, but Malta somehow always stayed in the back of my mind,” he said.

“Fast forward two decades, and here we are, expanding iQrypto to Malta, this time bringing our own semiconductor technologies with us!”
