A mainstay in the local tourism industry, Robert Arrigo & Sons has issued a touching tribute its Founder, Chairman and Director, Robert Arrigo, who passed away on Tuesday.

Mr Arrigo, who was known across the island for his leading role in politics within the Nationalist Party as well as a leader in the local tourism industry and a prominent businessman.

Writing to its social network on Wednesday, the incoming travel destination company, Robert Arrigo & Sons, wrote:

“Robert, a pioneer in the local tourism industry, leaves us with many lessons learnt and an industry he helped mentor and shape through the years.

“We shall all miss his great presence, always there to guide, help and make each of us grow and become part of his family.

“We shall honour a great human being and gentleman and continue in the path he has paved to keep moving forward with him in our hearts and fondest of each of our memories.”

He leaves behind sons Andrew and Alan, and his wife Marina, who are also Directors at the prolific company.

The travel agency was founded in 1983 by Mr Arrigo himself, and has served over three million clients to the Maltese Islands in its 38 years of operation.

Following the news of his passing, tributes have poured in across Malta’s political spectrum as well as the wider tourism industry.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday 22nd October at 10am at St. Julian’s Parish Church.
